FamSinyal

“Where is my child?” — and what an app can honestly answer.

A location app answers one question well: where the phone last reported itself, and when. Everything else is a promise worth checking.

The honest version of the answer

No app can tell you where your child is. Every one of them can tell you where your child's phone last reported itself — and the gap between those two sentences is where most disappointment lives.

FamSinyal is built around that gap rather than hiding it. Every location carries the time it was captured and an approximate accuracy, so an hour-old point looks like an hour-old point instead of a confident marker on a map.

What you can genuinely rely on

  • The last reported location, with the time it arrived.
  • Approximate accuracy — wide indoors, tighter outdoors.
  • Device status — battery, connection, and whether location permission is still granted.
  • An SOS your child sends, delivered to every parent in the family.

What no app can deliver

  • A location from a phone that is switched off or out of battery.
  • An update from a phone with no connection — the point can be captured, but not delivered.
  • Locating someone by phone number rather than by a paired, consenting device.
  • Guaranteed accuracy indoors, underground, or in a dense city centre.

Set it up in the open

The strongest thing a family can do is decide together. Pairing in FamSinyal requires physical access to the child's phone and a one-time code, and the child's phone then shows that location reporting is active.

That openness is not a compromise on safety. A child who knows how the app works is far more likely to keep it installed and charged — which is exactly what makes it useful on the day it matters.

When the answer is “I don't know”

If the last point is old, the useful next question is why. Battery level, connection status and permission state usually answer it within seconds, and the support centre covers each cause in order.

If the phone is genuinely unreachable and you are worried, contact your local emergency number. FamSinyal is not an emergency service and never replaces that call.

Can I see my child's location without them knowing?

Not with FamSinyal, and that is deliberate. Pairing requires physical access to the phone, and the child's device shows an ongoing indicator that location reporting is active. We do not offer a hidden mode and will not add one — an app that can be installed secretly on one person's phone can be installed secretly on anyone's.

Why does the map show an old location?

Because the phone has not reported a newer one. The usual causes are a flat battery, no connection, a battery-saver mode, or a location permission that has been switched off. Each one is covered in the location not updating article.

Does this work if the phone is switched off?

No. A phone that is off cannot report anything. What you see is the last point it managed to send before it went quiet, together with the time — which at least tells you when contact was lost.
